Hello Ecstatic Dance Community, ✨ ✨ ✨

This is a heart opening healing form of dance.

All events are postponed due to COVID-19.

Please join us for The StarHouse Ecstatic Dance Boulder.

Ecstatic Dance is a journey of self-discovery through music & movement for exercise, stress release, emotional expression, and celebration of life. There are no moves to learn--just dance however it feels good to you. It's freeform dance to a varied mix of organic and electronic beats in a warm, playful, inclusive community. No previous experience necessary.

We will provide a special sound healing in addition to the dance.
The price for our community dance is $20 plus $5 to support the StarHouse Sustainability Fund.

This event sells out and pre-registration is important. If we have walk-in tickets available they will be given on a first come first served basis.
We do not offer refunds or transfers to other classes. If you would like to transfer your ticket to another dancer, you must organize that yourself.

Please carpool so we can preserve the pristine nature! 🙏

Feel free to arrive or leave at any time, but we believe the journey is best experienced as a whole: please try to arrive before 7:30pm. The music will be a mix of electronic and organic beats from around the globe—with a focus on the cutting edge of music production—including some novel remixes of beloved classics. The journey will open with flowing music to warm-up the body, steadily pick up in tempo & intensity to reach peaks of ecstasy, and gently land into meditative, heart-chakra stillness. (Note: There will be some powerful bass at moments, but we don’t get into trance or rave music.)
Address: The StarHouse, 3476 Sunshine Canyon Dr, Boulder, CO 80302

Being with Our Music
During the journey we play a very wide variety of music across different genres. If there's a song you don't prefer or that doesn't seem danceable at first, we invite you to be curious and try to discover it in your body. Or use it as an opportunity to work with the judgements that arise. Or hold witness for how others are feeling the music. Or take a break to visit our altar or get some water. Just know that the music keeps changing, so something different is coming soon.

“let your soul dance”

Ecstatic Dance Boulder was born out of love for the sun, dance and nature. Dance is a beautiful way to celebrate life, cultivate community, connect with pure joy and your higher self. The intention of Ecstatic Dance is to create a sacred space for people to dance freely and experience their inner being while dancing.

Ecstatic Dance Boulder began as outside activity in nature dancing in the sun. Dancers’ hearts opened while they experienced a deeper connection to mother earth, the trees and the sun.

Dance is a social experience for anyone who likes to dance to joyful and inspiring music in a safe environment. It is a welcoming space for people to pray and get in touch with their hearts desires. The tones are a blend of world drum beat and modern electronic music.

Q: What is the structure of the dance?

Ecstatic Dance in its most basic definition is free-form dance inspired by music, allowing our bodies to move freely without judgment or concern for the “grace” of the dance. This is the dance you dance when nobody is watching! It develops a direct body-spirit connection, letting your body and inner guide be your teacher. It’s about being present with your own energy and discovering your own dance.

No dance experience or partner is necessary. It’s a perfect outlet for those who think they “can’t dance” and for experienced dancers alike. It is free-form, not a structured dance. It is an environment without observers or conversation, where you can feel safe to try new things and really push the envelope. Ecstatic dance is easy. There is no wrong way to dance.
The experiences are an hour an half, starting with an opening circle where we introduce ourselves to each other and connect the energy of the group. Starting with a gentle warm-up, we begin to dance. We end the dance with some time in silence and then we come back together for a closing circle. At that point participants are free to share wisdom they may have gained, their experience or just sit in the beautiful energy of the group. We close giving thanks.

Some of the benefits if the ecstatic dance are incredible energy, excitement, aliveness and release of stuck patterns in your body, emotions, mind and spirit.

Q: What kind of music do you play?

The music is carefully selected to feel uplifting and inspiring. At the beginning and end the music is slow pace, harmonious and heart opening. After the first half an hour the music gradually gets more energetic. Some songs have primordial drum beat helping people ground and get out of the thinking mode. Our DJ’s play a wide spectrum of different genres from world music to get down electronic music.

Q: Who should come?

Ecstatic Dance is appropriate for those of any age, gender and lifestyle who like music and want to have fun.

Ecstatic Dance Guidelines
*  Be clean. Please arrive fresh with a clean body and clothes, as some of us are sensitive to any scented products or strong body odors.
*  Be clear-minded.
*  Leave your shoes and smartphones off the dance floor.
*  Dress to sweat.
Holding a Safe and Sacred Space
*  Dance and move however you feel it. There's no right or wrong way to be ecstatic!
*  Be curious, open, and accepting. Please suspend judgements of self or other.
*  Refrain from talking on the dance floor. Take all conversations out to the lobby or outdoors. Organic sounds are welcome.
*  Move with care and awareness through the space. Help us avoid collisions on the dance floor. No lifts or weight-giving contact dance during the event.
*  Respect the physical and energetic space of each dancer. Ecstatic Dance is very contact-friendly, but we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to being approached and touched.
*  We are a consent-based community. Only give attention or contact to whom enthusiastically welcomes it.
*  Turn off your cell phone or put it in airplane mode.

“Your events are transformational.”

“Boulder’s Ecstatic Dance is my monthly reset. Simona creates a joyful and powerful space where it’s easy to just let go and dance! Every time I leave the dance, I do so with peace in my heart and joy for my next step in life.” Almina Hodek

“Dancing to Simona’s musical guidance is like tapping into the mystical vortex of pure energy and truth. Her musical choices create a personal journey through the deep complexities & challenges of being human.” CJ

“It’s so great in here on the dance floor, I’m inhaling it so I can take it with me.” Noah

“I’ve always loved to dance, but I never before experienced it as a pure “organic-spirit-body” active mediation. Once I let go into pure unselfconscious movement, it became a dance with the Divine Mother. Your ‘super-juicy’ choices in music and rhythm changes guided my energy-psyche flow. Your music feels expansive, rich and deep. The evening of Ecstatic Dance was fantastic, I’ll be back.” Jeff
